The device, which is designed to fit in a recess cut in the face of the bench, has a screw to regulate the height of the stop, which can be lowered to flush level when not in use. P.M. PERINGTON, PORTLAND, MAINE: A Hamilton Company Mill Ledger

A MID-NINETEENTH CENTURY DAY BOOK as kept by Mr. Prescott M. Pirington, Portland Maine from October 12, 1851 to November 30, 1854. The binding on this book is somewhat worn and the bottom of a few pages are torn away on this peek into the forming of the A. Hamilton Company which this book calls a business to manufacture "sash blinds doors and planing lumber". On October 12, 1851, Mr. Perry begins "To day came from Bath to Portland and brought my machinery with me" and then on October 23 he "Commenced work with E. Elmer at the sash & blinds buildings". The details of his agreement with Asa Hamilton and Cyrus W. Strout are written in this book and dated July 26, 1852. Cyrus Strout was born around 1820 near Raymond, Maine. Prescott Pirington was the mayor of Calais Maine in 1877. Length = 8.00 Inches. Pre-Sale Estimate: $50.00 - $100.00. (GOOD)
