Dale Butterworth & Tom Whalen: "From Logs To Lumber Book

A COPY OF THE BOOK FROM LOGS TO LUMBER by Dale Butterworth and Tom Whalen. This book, which recounts the story of lumbering and rule making in New England quickly sold out when it was published a few years ago. We were saddened to learn of the passing of Dale Butterworth of Cumberland, Maine. At age 95, Dale had led a full life that was accented by his passion for tools. Despite declining eyesight in recent years, he was a regular attendee at our Nashua, New Hampshire sales, where he enjoyed talking with The Boys in the parking lot. He did, however miss an auction several years ago as he was busy putting a new roof on his barn, at age 93. If one was to work at collecting tools for fifty years and found nothing of note, but, as a consequence of that collecting effort, came to know men like Dale Butterworth, then he would have wasted none of his time. This book quickly sold out when first released and there are no plans to have it reprinted. It is a great source of information about early rule makers of New England and an essential reference for the collector's library. From the Collection of the late Jim Durochia, Essex Junction, Vermont. Length = 10.50 Inches. Pre-Sale Estimate: $80.00 - $160.00. (FINE)
